Garbage, Recycling, Brush & Leaves

Solid Waste bills are mailed once a year. The bill is in 4 quarters, due January 15, April 15, July 15 and October 15 of each year.

Solid Waste collection is 2x per week Monday & Thursday or Tuesday & Friday, according to your district, and 1x time per week Thursday or Friday, according to your district, November 1 through March 31. Collection is rear/side yard; do not put your containers curbside.

Recycling pick-up is every other Wednesday for your district. The Borough provides 32-gallon blue recycling cans for our residents. Newspaper and shiny paper should be put into brown paper bags, and cardboard broken down in one box or bundled.

Bulk - Each pick-up zone has a monthly Saturday morning bulk pick-up that excludes regular recycling material.

Leaf –Please place your leaves at the curb for the first day of each round of pick-up dates but no earlier than 7 days prior.

Recycling Center - The Ho-Ho-Kus Recycling Center is located at 26 Hollywood Avenue. Hours of operation are Monday - Saturday 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Tax Collection

Tax bills are mailed once a year. The bill is in 4 quarters, due February 1, May 1, August 1 and November 1 of each year. Click here for more information.

Water Bills

Water bills are mailed each quarter. The water bill is due January  20, April 20, July 20 and October 20 of each year. To request an E-billing, please click HERE.

The watering schedule effective from Memorial Day to Labor Day is divided into three zones. Each area is permitted to water two days each week. No watering is permitted on Mondays. Please follow the regular watering schedule for your area. Click here for information, zones and schedule.

The Department of Public Works

The DPW is located at 23 Hollywood Avenue. Hours of operation are 7 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Monday – Friday. Click here for more information.

Pet Licenses

All  dogs and cats require a license each year through the Health Department. There is an annual rabies clinic. Click here for more information.

Train Station & Commuter Parking

NJ Transit offers convenient rail and bus transportation to New York City and beyond. The Ho-Ho-Kus Train Station is located on Brookside Avenue. For schedule and ticket information visit here. For information on Resident Parking Permits, click here.

Voter registration applications are available at the office of the Borough Clerk. Please click here for registration information.

Municipal Court

The Ho-Ho-Kus Municipal Court sessions are held on the first Wednesday of each month at 4:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted. The Ho-Ho-Kus Municipal Court Office and Violations Bureau is located at the Municipal Complex at 333 Warren Avenue and is open 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday thru Friday. Click here for additional details.

Building Permits

Check with the Construction Department prior to beginning any project to obtain the proper permits. Office hours are Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Click here for more information.

Parking

The Borough has parking prohibitions and restrictions on some streets. There are parking time limits on streets in the Borough business district. There is no commuter parking outside of the designated street and parking lots (parking permits are available to Ho-Ho-Kus residents and business owners). There is no overnight parking in the Borough of Ho-Ho-Kus. Effective August 1, 2021, requests for instant approval to park your car on the street overnight will be accepted by the Ho-Ho-Kus Police Department.
